Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Malaga Pass – Quillabamba
Our fantastic cusco jungle tour starts with transfer from your hotel and depart toward the Abra de Malaga (pass at 4300m), the summit is quite interesting very close we see the sacred snow mount named waccayhuillca “Veronica”, from here the road goes down into cloud forest and the high jungle, a place where we see coffee and and coca plant farms.
There is also a nice inca site named huaman marca where we stop and visit the place, we continue and stop by santa maria for lunch. From lunch we continue throughout banana plantations, after this we arrive to the town of quillabamba, we stop and see the locals market, then drive to the swimming pool named sambaray, it is the place where you can swim and after we camp and have dinner.
Day 2: Quillabamba – Kiteni – Ivochote
After breakfast we continue our transport towards the northwest of quillabamba, along the way we will see lush forest and pass small villages, the road banks the Urubamba River the we arrive in to a little town named Kiteni where we lunch.
After lunch we continue driving our private vehicle, and finally we will arrive early to Ivochoque, along the way of course we can stop and buy some local fruits, while the guide will explain about the area, the spectacular flora and fauna. At Ivochote we set up out tents and spend the night after dinner.
Day 3: Esperanza
The adventure this day will begin with an early wake walk by the river bank in search of birds, then we return for breakfast, after breakfast we go to the port to catch our motorized canoe for the journey, after about an hour on slow drive we reach the magical Pongo de Mainique..
At arrival to the Pongo we will have the opportunity to stop and climb up a little to the waterfalls, it is known as the portal to the afterlife for the Machiguenga Natives, and from here we pass the pongo and go to our camp at Esperanza campsite wjere we explore the jungle and the river.
Day 4: Esperanza – Ivochote Kiteni – Echarate
We’ll wake up with lark and visit a Macaw Clay lick, it is a place near by the river where hundreds of parrots come and eat the clay to get minerals and get detox themselves.
Then we will have breakfast, after breakfast we return enjoying the nature, then get the natural shower at the pongo where we can swim and try to fish, after that we return to Ivochote to lunch, then after lunch drive back, then crossing river we will drive to the charade town where we spend the night.
Day 5: Echarate – Cusco
After breakfast we depart and we take new way, we take the road that is leading to the south and drive by the yanatile valley, we will pass towns such as yanatile the arrive in to a little place at the river where we lunch, after lunch we drive up to the summit that is above switchback road and then drive back to the city, arriving at around 5 pm. We will drive you to your hotel.
